(Credit: Screenshot by Steven Musil/CNET) President Obama may have to contend with budget crises, economic woes, health care snafus, and international conflicts. But those are nothing compared to the greatest threat now facing the world -- the demise of Flappy Bird.

Originally intended to teach students about computer science, the device has sold more than 2 million units and has become a must-have for tech hobbyists.

Get started with the Raspberry Pi The credit card-size Raspberry Pi microcomputer has been one of the most talked-about devices since it first hit the scene in early 2012.
Here's what you need to know before you get started. This inexpensive microcomputer can be used for a variety of DIY projects.

(Credit: Sarah Tew/CNET) Lastly, you will need a monitor, an HDMI cable, a USB mouse and keyboard, and an Internet connection. Model A owners will be required to use a USB hub for connecting additional USB peripherals: the keyboard, mouse, and wireless card. The New Out Of Box Software, appropriately known as NOOBS, can be downloaded as either a ZIP file or a torrent from the Raspberry Pi Web site. nInstalling an operating system
The Raspberry Pi Foundation has created a new tool that takes out the complexity of installing an operating system on the Raspberry Pi.

You will also need an SD card for storage and some sort of SD card reader -- my MacBook Air has an SD card slot that I will be using. The minimum supported size is 4GB with a speed rating of at least class 4, but the Raspberry Pi supports cards with up to 32GB of space and a class 10 speed rating.

The process can take up to 20 minutes, when it's complete click the OK button and wait as the system reboots. With all the components in place it is now time to connect the micro-USB power cord, which will automatically turn the Raspberry Pi on. Set your language, select the operating system, and click Install. I recommend using Raspbian for your first boot. n(Credit: Dan Graziano/CNET) You will be presented with a menu of compatible operating systems.

Mozilla's on the hunt for its first in-house editorial leader. But the company has only one opening for editor-in-chief, a new role listed only for the past two weeks. nMozilla, as is the case with many other companies, is getting into what the tech world has come to call with not even a scintilla of irony, "content creation." Not unlike similar positions at other Internet firms, the new role at Mozilla would be to make videos and write blogs, while creating and curating an editorial voice that dovetails with Mozilla's mission.

As part of Mozilla's diversification initiative, the maker of Firefox is looking to make news -- from the other side of the camera. nRelated stories:

nEnter the store, create an account, and download a game (check out Open Arena, a Quake III port). You can also access preinstalled games like Snake and Tetris by clicking on the Debian Games icon. For those of you interested in programing I would recommend checking out the preinstalled app Scratch. For the rest of us, you can visit your favorite Web sites with the included browser, or even download games and programs from the Pi store. (Credit: Dan Graziano/CNET) Explore
So now what?

Most Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone chargers should do the job. I'm using an old Motorola charger that is capable of producing 850mA at 5.1V. (Credit: Sarah Tew/CNET) For this guide, however, a power supply with an output of 700mA at 5V should be more than enough.

The easiest method for formatting the card is to download thefrom the SD Card Association's official tool, which is available for both Windows and OS X computers. Install an operating system on the Raspberry Pi While the file is downloading, your SD card must be formatted; this will erase everything on the card.

(Credit: Sarah Tew/CNET) The entry-level Raspberry Pi, known as the Model A, is equipped with 256MB of RAM, a single USB port, and doesn't have an Ethernet port, while the $35 Model B has double the RAM (512MB) and an additional USB ports. The more expensive model also has a built in 10/100 wired Ethernet.

If prompted for one, the default username is "pi" and the password is "raspberry." Scroll down, select Finished, and wait as the system reboots into the desktop.
(Credit: Dan Graziano/CNET) Choose the third option from the boot menu to automatically boot to the desktop, followed by the second option (it should read "desktop log in user "pi" at the graphical desktop).
